Local Move Guide Click here for a moving guide checklist.
Answers and procedures for making a local move (less than 56 miles).
General Information |
1. |
Rates - Charges are determined based on: 1) the time it takes to complete
the move, 2) the number of trucks and number of company personnel needed to
provide the service, and 3) travel time (warehouse to origin and destination back to
warehouse).
|
2. |
Valuation - With Central's low occurrences of damage claims, we can
offer low cost protection options. If no specific option is taken, the $0.60¢ per
pound per article coverage will apply at no additional charge to you. This coverage
is likely to be inadequate. You might want to check with your homeowner's insurance agent
to see if your policy might provide coverage for your move.
|
3. |
Appliance Servicing - Unless special arrangements have been made, you are responsible
for servicing your appliances (i.e., dishwasher, range, refrigerator, freezer, washer/dryer, etc.)
|
4. |
Other Special Attention Items - Items such as electronic equipment, organs,
pianos, grandfather clocks, waterbeds, home computers, hot tubs, ceiling fans, chandeliers,
and lawn mowers require special attention. Ask your move consultant for instructions if you are
unsure.
|
5. |
Payment - Certified funds, cash, credit cards, or personal checks will be accepted.
|
|
Instructions & Suggestions at Origin |
1. |
Appliances - Service appliances the day before your move occurs. Be sure all appliances have been cleaned,
drained (if needed) and dried. All appliances should be disconnected for 24 hours prior to move.
|
2. |
Flammables - Dispose of flammables, as these are non-allowable items. Non-refillable propane
tanks are not allowed. Partly used cans of oil, paint, thinner, bleach, etc. must be discarded. Lawn mowers and other machinery must be drained of
fuel, oil is ok.
|
3. |
Fine Wood Furniture - Avoid waxing and oiling fine wood furniture before moving
as some products make the wood vulnerable to imprinting from furniture pads.
|
4. |
Packing - If doing your own packing, it must be completed the day prior to loading.
|
5. |
Final Walk-Through - Before leaving your old residence for the last time,
make one more walk-thru, checking all cabinets and drawers for any missed contents.
|
6. |
Microwave Oven - Any glass trays should be removed, wrapped and securely
packed in a carton. Do not place cardboard in the door opening as it can spring the
door when moving.
|
7. |
Bedding - Leave beds assembled, with sheets, blankets and spreads removed.
Waterbeds must be drained and disassembled.
|
|
Instructions & Suggestions at Destination |
1. |
Appliances - To prevent possible damage, television sets, other electronic
equipment and major appliances should not be used for 24 hours after delivery,
allowing them time to adjust to room temperature.
|
2. |
Furniture Placement - You may wish to display a floor plan by the entrance, showing
where the furniture should be placed.
